1.English. This is brilliant. Book website (only 81 books so far, but a work in progress). Minimalist design. They give you the first page from a random book with no title, author, or cover art. You can read with no preconceptions!.

2. Science: TimeTree is a public knowledge-base for information on the tree-of-life and its evolutionary timescale. A Science site that uses all studies with published times of divergence for an evolutionary split. You put in the taxa – for example, dog and cat – and the most recent common ancestor is shown. Fascinating!
3. Finally, I wish they had this when I was a student and my culinary ability extended to spaghetti bolognese or Spanish omelette. (It was only an omelette in the most generous possible sense that egg was involved at some stage of the cooking process….the ‘Spanish’ component was even harder to define and probably had something to do with my student moustache and my propensity for liberal sprinklings of oregano and thyme)
